Prime Minister and Minister of Interior HE Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al Thani on Wednesday chaired the first meeting of the Board of Directors of National Tourism Council (NTC) for 2019.
The meeting, which discussed a number of organisational and marketing topics, adopted the organisational structure for the council’s transitional period to develop the tourism experience and enhance the digital transformation. The meeting also discussed the technical and institutional capabilities of the council’s employees and the tourism sector in general.
The meeting approved the establishment of a new department called Qatar Events, responsible for the state’s annual plan regarding festivals, events, exhibitions, conferences, and other related tourism events in the country.
It also discussed the latest developments in the international promotional campaign that aims to open up new tourism markets and diversify the tourism products in line with the goals of the national tourism sector strategy, and to grow cruise tourism. The meeting also reviewed the achievements of the national tourism sector strategy 2018-23.
