The Qatar National Rugby Championship will conclude on Friday, with Doha Rugby Football Centre (DRFC) set to host the final games.
Organized by the Qatar Rugby Federation, the the Camels face off against Al Khor / Blue Phoenix at 4pm for third and fourth place, while the final at 6pm will see two DRFC teams – the Warriors (1st XV) and the Chiefs (2nd XV) – go head to head on the pitch to battle it out for the hotly-contested first place position.
Brook Tremayne, Rugby Director, DRFC, said: “Considering the ongoing blockade, which has, since June 2017, severely impacted our traveling options, it’s been a good season. Over the last few months, we have seen a number of men progress from the second team through to the first team, as well as a number of our younger players from DRFC’s Academy play up.
“The tournament has also given us the much-needed opportunity to continue playing and practicing in the lead up to the Asia Rugby Championship 2018 Division III (West) competition taking place in a few weeks.”
This year, the West Asia Rugby Championship will see teams from Jordan and Lebanon travel to Doha to compete. The tournament is set to take place from March 30 – April 5 at Aspire Zone. Last year, Qatar finished third, after defeating Jordan 25-11.
