Qatar Charity’s (QC) annual forum for its field offices, organised under the theme ‘The Challenges of Governance and Risk Management in humanitarian Aid’, concluded in Doha with the attendance of 108 participants representing its offices worldwide.
In his statement at the forum, Faisal Rashid al Fehaida, assistant to the CEO in the Operations and International Partnerships Sector at Qatar Charity, emphasised the importance of the forum to their international operations and partnerships sector. Qatar Charity has 26 offices and four representatives in 30 countries and works in nearly 70 countries, in cooperation with many local and international organisations.
He also said the main goal of this forum was to apply the new policies and procedures for governance and risk management, noting that the forum has greatly contributed to introducing the governance sector, which is new for the field staff. This sector is concerned with the commitment of the offices to Qatar Charity’s policies and making sure that they do not violate them, especially the transparency and reporting aspects.
He also added that the forum included 94 specialised training workshops, presented by experts on different topics, such as due diligence, risk measurement and management in the field, especially in conflict-stricken areas requiring rapid intervention and exchange of field experiences, and discussions on several new projects and programmes in the fields of education, health, water, sanitation, economic empowerment and social welfare.
The forum also discussed the importance of work in the coming period, according to the international methodology, and the development of the process to implement projects in different areas.
He pointed out that all field offices of Qatar Charity were directed to activate partnerships with international organisations, which would enable them to become effective partners and strategic implementer for these international organisations at a large scale.
Many participants underlined the importance of this forum, as it allowed the employees of Qatar Charity to share experiences and exchange knowledge, because it brought together many experts in different fields from Qatar Charity’s offices across the globe.
“I believe that the forum is very important. It unifies the visions and approaches of those working at Qatar Charity’s field offices, which will be utilised in the implementation of the humanitarian and relief projects, policies and future directions of Qatar Charity in light of the challenges faced by humanitarian action in general and Qatar Charity in particular,” said Nasr Qaid from the Turkey office.
For his part, Mohamed Abu Haloub, director of Qatar Charity’s office in the Gaza Strip, said that the forum included many training courses that enriched the information and experiences of the participants, emphasising that they benefited from its workshops that dealt with many new topics related to disaster management and governance.
Ezzeddin Dhaifallah, director of Qatar Charity’s office in Ghana, said that the forum dealt with many important topics, pointing out that Qatar Charity is exerting efforts to train its employees, as it fully realises that that human cadre is the most significant element for the success.
Mohammed Amin Omar, director of Qatar Charity’s office in Bangladesh, considered the forum a valuable opportunity to directly learn and apply new policies, regulations and procedures in order to achieve the goal of providing services to people.
The forum aims at creating harmony between headquarters and its overseas offices, enhancing the capabilities of its staff serving in the field, developing the work environment, and strengthening the role of field offices in networking and coordinating at the local, governmental, UN and international levels.
