The French embassy has welcomed the signing of several agreements between Qatari and French companies on the occasion of the official visit of France’s Prime Minister Edouard Philippe to Qatar recently.
The agreements will enhance economic ties between the two countries, and aim to meet the development and growth of the Qatari economy, the French embassy said in a statement on Sunday.
The following deals were signed:
Extension of the agreement between Future French Champions and BPIFranc:
The common fund, Future French Champions, a partnership between Qatar Investment Authority and BPIFrance, has contributed through its investments to the development of seven French companies since March 2014.
Satisfied with this cooperation, the partners have decided to extend it for another year until March 2020.
The signing of the collaborative agreement between the French finance company, Iris Capital, and Qatar Development Bank (QDB):
QDB is investing in Iris Capital’s latest-generation fund to get access to French and international companies wishing to settle and develop business in Qatar, Iris Capital has opened a representative office in Qatar to sustain the development of the Qatari innovation ecosystem.
Iris Capital will be sharing with QDB its know-how and best investment practices in the field of venture capital.
Establishing Orion LLC joint-venture in the field of transportation:
Qatar Railways Development Company and RKH Qitarat companies (49% subsidiary of the French companies Keolis and RATP, operating public transport systems), has established the ORION LLC joint venture.
The company aims to integrate the capital of French companies linked to the field of transportation, whose plans for industrial settlement are located in Qatar.
Egis – engineering partner with vast portfolio in Qatar: Active worldwide, Egis is a French group offering engineering, project structuring and operations services. In engineering and consulting its sectors of activity, include transport – road, rail and metro, urban development, building, industry, water, environment and energy.
Currently, Egis in Qatar employs over 400 people, working in numerous offices assigned to country’s iconic projects, such as Doha Metro, Expressway Programme, Industrial Area Sewage Treatment Plant, Um Alhoul Economic Zone (Qatar Economic Zone 3), Al Karaana Lagoon Rehabilitation, various Facility Management contracts for governmental bodies, Katara Cultural Village and aviation projects – all of which contribute to Qatar’s National Vision and will serve in time for the FIFA World Cup that will be hosted in Doha in 2022.
