INDIAN Community Benevolent Forum (ICBF), an organisation functioning under the aegis of Indian embassy, on Sunday, honoured Indian social workers with prestigious ICBF Awards.
Lulu Group Regional Director Mohmed Althaf received the prestigious Mulchand Kanjani Award from Indian Ambassador to Qatar HE P Kumaran.
The event held at Al Wakra was also attended by Brigadier Abdullah Khalifa al Muftah, director of the Public Relations Department at the Ministry of Interior, Harish Kanjani from Kanjani family and PN Baburajan, ICBF president.
Nizar Kochery received KP Abdul Hameed Social Service Award.
Speaking on the occasion, Ambassador Kumaran congratulated ICBF for helping low-income workers and urged community members to extend their support to ICBF to carry out its noble initiatives.
Brigadier Abdullah Khalifa al Muftah was also honoured with ICBF Special Appreciation Award.
In his acceptance speech, Muftah appreciated achievements of ICBF and recollected his good memories of the forum since its formation.
Others who won the ICBF awards were AK Usman, Rajeev Sharma, Karim Abdullah, Uma Pandyan, Khalid C and KK Sankaran,
ICBF also honoured the firms and associations that supported ICBF medical camps organised for low-income expatriates.
The event also featured a musical programme of evergreen songs of Bollywood.
The event was attended by officials from Ministry of Interior (MoI), ICBF Coordinating Officer Fahmi, officials of Indian Cultural Centre, Indian Sports Centre, Indian Business Professionals Council, representatives of different socio-cultural organisations and prominent Indian community members.
