Birla Public School Scrabble Club members took part in the 17th Annual Inter-School Scrabble Tournament 2019 organised at Stafford Sri Lankan School, Doha recently.
The ‘Birla Scrabbles’ excelled by achieving 1st Runner Up (Overall School Championship) with Eshan Azami as 1st Runner Up in the Under-14 category.
The Scrabble Club at Birla Public School is an after-school activity growing in popularity with students.
Scrabble enthusiasts play the games building/spelling, vocabulary and increase their social skills, preparing them to compete against other schools.
Birla Public School Principal A P Sharma congratulated the Scrabble club team.
He said, “It has been great to watch the club grow, the kids come in excited to play and learn. This also helps to grow the weaker students’ interest in words. It helps them learn to play around with words and letters. The students are learning more than this, like making new friends, weaning themselves away from TV and the digital world.”
The BPS Scrabble Club team was led by its Area Coordinator Dimple Verma and assisted by Shweta Kumari Koundal.
