Pakistan International School Doha-Qatar (PISQ) organised its first Annual Mathemagic Competition at the Arbab Auditorium in the school recently.
Eight teams with three participants each from Boys Wing and Girls Wing took part in the event.
School Principal Nargis Raza Otho, heads of all wings, teachers and a number of students attended the lively show. The programme, right from the onset, had a number of twists and turns with the lead changing during every round. However, towards the end, five different teams from Grades V to VIII bagged the first position and were declared the winners.
From Grade V, Rawaha Muhammad Riaz, Muhammad Rayan and Abu Bakr notched up the first position. From Grade VI, Eshal Ali, Dua Amir and Laiba Hina obtained the first position. From Grade VII, Maimoona Luqman, Ahlam Rashid and Bushra Qazi bagged the top position. From Grade VIII, two teams shared the first position: Eisa Haider, Maalika Hisham and Rafia Khan from (GW), and Muhammad Asjad, Muhammad Hassan and M Taha Amjad (BW).
The principal admired the brilliant performance of the young mathematicians together with their mentors. “The purpose of this maiden event is to teach students how to work mentally with calculus, nurture number sense, and create a foundation and enthusiasm for Mathematics. This is an interactive way for students to learn Mathematics and its entire trigonometry,” she said.
Reema Rashid was the coordinator of the event, while Wasim Rana performed as Stage Secretary and Aneeqa was the announcer of the event. Zobia Bashir and Naeem Fakhar were the Judges.
At the end, the chief guest handed over the Certificates of Appreciation to the winning teams and certificates of participation to all the contestants.
