Tamoor Sajjad has been named to lead the 14-player Qatar team for ICC World Cup Twenty20 Asia Finals to be hosted by Singapore from July 22.
Qatar, who recently edged Kuwait 2-1 in a friendly but fierce home series to assess their caliber, will take on Singapore in opening match on July 22.
In a simple ceremony, Qatar Cricket Association President Yousef Jeham Al-Kuwari and other officials were present and wished good luck to the team. “We extend our heartiest wishes of good luck to Qatar who are taking part in a significant qualifying tournament in Singapore. Qatar showed their strong character against Kuwait during a warm-up series and won it 2-1.”
Praising the team further, he added, “The most important thing during the Kuwait series was the tough cricket our players played. We expect them to go out in each match and play the same way. Inshallah, Qatar will advance to the next stage.”
Besides Qatar and Singapore, Kuwait, Malaysia and Nepal are other three contestants during the qualifiers, which will conclude on July 28 with a match between Singapore and Nepal. Qatar’s other three matches are as below:

Only the winners will make it to the ICC T20 World Cup Qualifier, which are slated in the United Arab Emirates from October 11 to November 3. Seven qualifiers from regional finals will join Hong Kong, Ireland, Netherlands, Oman, Scotland and Zimbabwe who missed out on qualifying for the event proper after finishing outside the top ten of the MRF Tyres ICC Men’s T20I Team Rankings as on the cut-off date of December 31. The UAE have also confirmed their spot in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Qualifier by as hosts of the event.
Six qualifiers from the UAE event will join Afghanistan, Australia, Bangladesh, England, India, New Zealand, Pakistan, South Africa, Sri Lanka and West Indies who have qualified already directly for the Men’s T20 World Cup in Australia after finishing in the top ten of the MRF Tyres ICC Men’s T20I Team Rankings as on the cut-off date of December 31, 2018.qatar t20 squadQatar T20 team:
