THE BalochistanSafests team lifted the winner’s trophy by defeating the SindhHitman team in the second Volleyball Championship 2019 organised by the
Sohni Dharti forum in Al Khor recently.
A total of six teams with some 70 players participated in 18 matches played intermittently. The teams included KashmirNetmasters, KPKSmashers, BalochistanSafests, PunjabSixpacks, GilgitCrossfires and SindhHitman.
The top four teams that qualified for the semi-finals were BalochistanSafests, PunjabSixpacks, GilgitCrossfires and SindhHitman.
In the final match, SindhHitman, led by captain Kaleem Suhrani, won the first game but BalochistanSafests, led by captain Waheed Abbasi, made a strong comeback in second set and kept their hopes alive. BalochistanSafests clinched their first ever title in the third set by defeating their opponents with a margin of 16/14.
The highlight of the final event was the participation of the Pakistan Souq Team. Chairman of Sohni Dharti Saleem Baloch, flanked by executive members, warmly received CEO of Pakistan Souq Aamir Saeed Khan, Dr Khalil
Ullah Shibli and their team members upon arrival at
the venue.
Addressing the community members, Khan, who attended the event as the chief guest, explained the salient features of the first-ever online platform of the Pakistani community. He said his team was working on the ‘One Team, One Goal, One Nation’ motto.
Pakistan Souq is a unifying facility offering access to e-commerce, e-business services, business forums, job portals, and career counselling for SMEs and startups.
The Pakistan Souq media team conducted the live coverage of the final match and the main highlights were shared on Pakistan Souq’s official Facebook page. The match was also broadcast live on Sohni Dharti Facebook page.
Aamir Saeed Khan, Dr Khalil Ullah Shibli, Ayesha Wadood and Mohammad Ajmal Chaudhary presented prizes to players at the award ceremony.
Nadeem Abbas was declared ‘Player of the Tournament’ while Imran Khattak clinched the title of ‘Best Net-Man of the Tournament’. Qamar was declared the ‘Best Smasher of the Tournament’.
The KashmirNetmasters team received ‘Fair Team Play Awards.
Zafar Chandio and Shahid Mahmood Bhatti were honoured for technical support.
The captains of all the six teams were awarded for their discipline, leadership and teamwork throughout the tournament.  
Sports secretary Umer Adeel and Sohni Dharti members were praised for arranging custom-made trophies, medals and player kits.
Chairman of Sohni Dharti Saleem Baloch, President Shahid Mahmood Bhatti, Vice President Saleem Arif, General Secretary Azmat Ali, Joint Secretary Zahid Nadeem, Sports Secretary Umer Adeel, Finance Secretary Umar Khayam, Cultural Secretary Mohsin Ali, Media Secretary Amjad Saleem, Future Leader Coordinator Shabbir Siddique, Khawar Aman, Sobia Arif Rao and Humaira Masood played a vital role in making arrangements for the championship.
The ceremony concluded with the vote of thanks by the Sohni Dharti chairman.
