In a bid to promote trade between Qatar and the Indian state of Goa, Indian Business and Professionals Council (IBPC) in Qatar and Goa Chamber of Commerce signed an agreement on the sidelines of Vibrant Goa Expo and Summit 2019 held in Taleigao recently.
The agreement, which was signed by IBPC President Azim Abbas, is aimed at enhancing mutual cooperation and support in the field of business and trade between Qatar and Goa.
Ministry of Commerce and Industries Undersecretary Saleh al Khulaifi also participated along with his team in the summit representing Qatar.
Representatives of several Qatari companies and many IBPC officials also participated in the summit.
A one to one meeting between Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and members of IBPC delegation was also held on the sidelines of the summit. A panel discussion participated by Saleh al Khulaifi, Azim Abbas and Qatari businessman Yousf al Jabar was also organised on the occasion. The panelist discussed at length 2030 Qatar National Vision and opportunities to invest in various sectors of Qatar.
“It was a well attended discussion and attracted many delegates from across the world. The participants showed keen interest in attractive policies of the Government of Qatar. Many of them interacted with IBPC members to know in details about the various business and trade opportunities available in Qatar,” Abbas said.
The Indian Business and Professionals Council delegation comprised of Azim Abbas, Sumit Malhotra, Manoj Megchiani, Gopal Balasubramaniam, Sheji Valiyakath, Syed Arif Mahdi, Ashish Kulkarni, Balakrishna Nambiar and Harish Kanjani. The event was coordinated by Anmol Modi, senior manager of Vibrant Goa.
Held under the patronage of Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, the summit was attended by delegates from 52 countries.
The key focus of the expo and summit was to make development in the field of innovation, sustainability, industries, technology, youth, skill development, knowledge sharing and networking. Sawant announced the signing of 17 MoUs promoting and facilitating various business ventures in Goa on the occasion. Sawant also expressed the state government’s keenness to promote new business avenues in order to boost the economy on sustainable mode.
India’s Union Minister for Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal, who was also present at the event, lauded the role of the business summit for attracting people around the world to do business in Goa.
