NEW DELHI: A 23-year-old Indian woman who was allegedly set ablaze by men accused of raping her has died of a cardiac arrest, a spokesman for Delhi’s Safdarjang Hospital said on Saturday.
The woman was attacked on Thursday in Uttar Pradesh state’s Unnao district. She was on her way to a neighbouring town to attend a hearing in the case she had filed against two men in 2018 accusing them of raping her.
The woman was first admitted to a local hospital and then flown to New Delhi in an air ambulance. She had suffered 70 percent burns to her body and died of a cardiac arrest last night, Shalabh Kumar, the doctor overseeing her treatment said. (DPA)
