The Swiss Business Council Qatar (SBCQ) has honoured Ashraf Abuissa, Chairman of Abuissa Holding with the Lifetime Achievement Award 2019 for his outstanding achievements throughout his career in various fields.
The award ceremony was held by the Swiss Business Council Qatar, which was established in 2015 in order to support Swiss companies and Swiss professionals in Qatar with a platform and a network of mutual interest between investors in Qatar and Switzerland.
SBCQ distributed its annual awards to the most prominent personalities and institutions that have played an active role in promoting economic and trade relations for the business and bilateral relationship between Switzerland and the State of Qatar, or have had a positive impact on the society in general.
Ashraf took over the family business after the death of his father. His group started with a small retail business and has since grown to become one of the most famous business groups in the Middle East, with 100 stores in more than six countries.
Ashraf took over the family business with his brother Nabil Abuissa at a young age. Through their strategic and global partnerships and commitment to the highest standards of excellence, Ashraf and his brother Nabil have achieved significant regional reach.
Ashraf succeeded in building one of the most diversified and advanced commercial groups in the State of Qatar, including “Blue Salon”.
For three decades, this high-end luxury department store has been bringing the latest trends in fashion, watches, jewellery, perfumes, cosmetics, home decor, travel items, luggage representing the most prestigious Swiss and international brands.
In addition to retail stores spread across Qatar, Blue Salon has also introduced a large number of important Swiss brands in the Qatari market such including Breitling, Zenith, MB&F, Bovet, De Bethune, Maurice Lacroix, Louis Erard, Ressence, Urwerk, Nespresso, Zimmerli, la prairie, Victorinox Goldkenn, Swiss Image.
Ashraf was awarded the Ernst & Young’s Entrepreneur of the Year Award in 2011 and named the Businessman of the Year by Arabian Business magazine in 2016.
He is the founder of a number of NGOs and charities such as Injaz Qatar - Founding Board of Directors - Palestinian Children Relief Fund (PCRF) - Vice Chairman and Chairman of Young Presidents Organization (YPO)
Ashraf stressed the importance of the annual ceremony of the Swiss Business Council Awards, which is one of the prestigious events anticipated by various business circles in Qatar.
He said, “The Lifetime Achievement Award 2019 is an honour for the entire Abuissa Holding as it is a solid testament to the fact that Abuissa has been a key partner for the development and recognition of our nation on the regional and international business map. This award will foster our responsibility for further achievements in the future in order to continue the journey of success.”
